MyIP — Privacy Policy

Browser extension that shows your public IP and recent IP history

Last updated: September 24, 2026

In short: MyIP looks up your public IP address and its location, and stores your current IP plus your last 3 IP sessions only on your own device. It does not send your data to the developer or to any analytics service. The single third party involved is the IP-lookup API, ipwho.is.

1. Who we are

“MyIP” (the “Extension”) is developed and maintained by Nat3-lab (the “Developer”). Questions? Contact nateconsultancy4@gmail.com.

2. What the Extension collects

When you open the popup or when the scheduled hourly check runs, the Extension retrieves:

Your IP address is considered personal data in some jurisdictions, which is why this policy exists.

3. How the data is used

The information is used solely to power the Extension’s features that you see in the popup: displaying your current IP and its details, showing the local time for that IP’s timezone, calculating how long the current IP has been active, and keeping a short history of your previous IP sessions.

4. Where the data is stored

All data is stored locally on your device using the browser’s chrome.storage.local API. Specifically:

This data never leaves your device through the Extension. The Developer has no server and receives none of it. Older history beyond the last 3 sessions is automatically discarded.

5. Third-party service

To look up IP information, the Extension makes a request to ipwho.is. By the nature of any IP-lookup service, that provider necessarily receives the IP address of the request in order to return its details. The Extension sends no other information to ipwho.is. Their handling of that request is governed by their own privacy practices; please review the ipwho.is website for details. No API key or account is used, and no other third parties are contacted.

6. What the Extension does NOT do

7. Permissions and why they are needed

8. Data retention and your control

History is limited to the last 3 IP sessions and rotates automatically. You can remove all stored data at any time by removing the Extension from your browser, which clears its local storage.

9. Children

The Extension is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above will be revised and the updated version will be published at this URL.
